Eighth Grade Persuasive Essays (NJASK PREP)

Dear Principal,
There once was a guy who was treated unfairly. He worked very hard at football and was really good. Colleges began scouting and the coach was supposed to send tapes in to colleges but didn’t. This guy is my brother. He was treated unfairly and so was I. Recently Hanover Park High School wanted to have rotating schedules like Ridgedale Middle School has. They most likely will do it next year. They will do it to the classes at hp. They think it changes things up and keeps students engaged. My opinion is I think it is stupid and unjust that hp might get this schedule. I have three strong reasons: we don’t need to try new things (the school is fine as is), time can be an issue, this depends on our schedule, and my most important is we can never get used to it as freshmen. Nobody denies that this is a bad idea. In this essay I will say why I think this is bad.
In the first place, we don’t need to keep trying new things. I say this because Hanover Park is a great school, so why change. I think that we don’t need to do this change because it just seems like we are trying to hard to be the best. Also if the kids are happy you don’t want them to be unhappy, what is the point? Have you ever tried to do so much it backfired? That can happen here. There was an NFL player that kept trying to be the best but he broke his leg, so it backfired. Just as in this case it can backfire on us.
Pursuing this further, time can be an issue with this plan. Lets say your homeroom is close to your first class. When the rotating happens your homeroom can be across campus from the first period class. This is a problem because if you are late for a lot of classes, you can get a detention. If you get to many detentions you can get a suspension. As you can see this can lead up into trouble and bad grades, but there is an even bigger reason, I will mention in the next paragraph.
Most importantly, we can never get used to the new school. If we just come to Hanover Park as freshman, we need to get used to stuff. It would be very difficult to get used to the school while this rotating schedule is going on. As I said in the last paragraph our grades can slip. Also if we cant get used to it freshman year, it will be hard to get used to it as a sophomore year too.  I have two sisters that go to hp one is going to graduate; also my brother went to hp. They told me it is hard to get used to at first. So if it is challenging to get used to, having a rotating schedule would be more difficult. Therefore, these are some reasons it is a bad idea.
In final analysis, this is a horrible idea. It is unjust, unneeded, and unwanted. Also in kids minds unfair. I say we keep the regular schedule because you don’t want kids coming to school unhappy. I feel so strongly about this that I would make petitions and have people sign it. Also we wont drop it. Is it necessary to change an entire schedule just to make the school look better? I will leave it for you to decide.
Sincerely,
JE

Dear Principals,

RING!!! RING!!! RING!!! It’s time for class, but can you make it? The new marking period has started and your schedule has rotated, and now you must bolt across the campus in time to just barely make it inside the classroom! You almost get there, then the doors close and you’re stuck waiting outside and having extra homework, and you don’t get credit for the class today! This would be an average day in high school with a rotating schedule. “Who is causing this unspeakable tragedy?!” you ask. Your answer is the principals of Ridgedale Middle School and Hanover Park. They have recently discussed the idea of a rotating schedule for Hanover Park. Worst of all, they’re doing this right when we get there, next year. This is happening because of the delusional idea that it keeps students engaged in their work. This was my response, “… Please tell me this is a joke…” Obviously I’m against this. Doing this will throw students out of rhythm, They’ll be asleep in their hardest classes, not to mention they’ll probably miss a fair share of classes. Clearly, this is a horrible idea.

I have no doubt, that a rotating schedule will throw students out of rhythm. Rotating the schedule will make students have to think twice before going left or right, something that should become habit from going through the order each day. Think about it, first marking period you have Spanish for first period, you find the class very boring and easy. You get used to relaxing early in the morning for the whole quarter. Then second marking period comes around and first thing in the morning, Algebra. You’re over stressed the whole day because in the time you would relax, you need to work like your life depends on it. Consequently, you’re grumpy all day, you’re tired, and your grades might drop.

Obviously, students will feel like they just woke up when they’re in a history lecture supposed to be taking notes. You feel tired, and can barely resist resting your head, just for a moment… RING!!! You fell asleep and missed taking the notes. And guess what, there is a test on it tomorrow. You feel horrible, you stayed up all night studying and just barely pass. I’m sure you have the common sense to realize this is bad for the student. He or she will be so tired from cramming that they practically have to drag themselves from class to class! Clearly this must not happen as, with already being out of rhythm, they would need to struggle over even the smallest things in class.

Oh, and did I mention that along with being out of rhythm  and being exhausted \, you might need to run to your next class like your life depends on it? Because I’m pretty sure you should know that. This, in my opinion, is what makes kids like me, that aren’t exactly the fastest around, scared for their grades. I already have a hard time reaching class on time in Ridgedale Middle school, and Ridgedale middle school is only ONE building! With Hanover Park’s open campus and multiple buildings, I’d never make class on a rotating schedule. Picture t, first quarter you get into the rhythm of progressing from adjacent buildings to another, only to need to run for your life next quarter. All the sudden your last period class, which is several buildings away, is second period on the schedule. You’d run full speed to no avail. Through this your grades have dropped, you’re getting hardly any credit, and you run all day for nothing.

As you can see, this is completely and utterly pointless. This schedule will leave you feeling out of rhythm, tired, and about to pass out from running all day. I believe we should stay with the regular, year long, un-rotating, schedule. There’s no reason behind the rotating schedule besides to try and make students work harder. So then, why would you use it? The rotating schedule will do the opposite. Do you want to be responsible for the grades of so many students plummeting?

Sincerely,

PJR

Dear Principal,

In the movie Cars, McQueen was lost in the road 46, he was driving fast and the

police car was trying to stop him but he didn’t stop, and the police was shooting at the

McQueen. So McQueen touched the rope and then he neck out like a car and he broke the

road. Then when he stops the police car took McQueen to the jail. He was treated unfairly

and so as I at HP they want to rotate schedule next year and classes at HP. Because they

want to change up schedule keep students engage. I disagree because I don’t want HP to

have it will be crazy to have at MIDDLE SCHOOL and at the HIGH SCHOOL, too. And

my three reasons is, Some hard classes at the wrong time because students may not want

to have the rotating schedule cause they want the schedule to be the same as it was the

first marking period. My second reason is for new students adds more stress, like for

students that don’t want to have stress with their work. And the third reason is that it is to

confusing because for a lot of new students they just how to now new schedule and the

next marking period they are going to change the schedule again. So in the next

paragraph I will be talking about if they change the schedule at Hanover Park it will be to

confusing for other people that never had their schedule rotated in there school and I

think that the High School should never have it cause it will be so stupid.

In the first place, some hard classes at the wrong time. Because some students have

some stress with there work or homework and they need help but when they come to

school teachers don’t have time because of the rotating schedule. So I think that

HANOVER PARK shoulder have it cause students just learn like the first marking period

and how it going to be the second marking period and you will need to learn new one. If

they have gym first, math second, and like that and how second marking period change.

They would need to know the new schedule cause they just got a new one and it’s

different from the first marking period schedule.

Just in the same way, for new students add more stress to them because they may

be at the school but move from that town and how they moved back to Florham park and

he or she went to the HANOVER PARK and they have the rotating schedule at he

HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL same ad at the MIDDLE SCHOOL at RIDGEDELE

SCHOOL they had the same thing as they had in MIDDLE SCHOOL. So for them it will

cause them same problems because when the principal will give you a schedule and you

would have to keep it to the end of the year cause that is your schedule that shows you

what classes you will have. So they gave the schedule on the first marking period but

then when the first marking period will be over and you will have the second marking

period started and they will change the rotating schedule. And students wont know how

they go because they had their favorite period first but now its last and they would need

more time to get to their class.

Lastly, it is to confusing them because they don’t really want to have now and they

really don’t fill like in that class or how students have more confusing cause they really

want the old rotating schedule back in school. They mate has it better and it is very easy

for them to have the same schedule all the time. So students will be having trouble with

their stuff cause it’s the entire crazy rotating schedule and even though in my school we

have the same thing. Cause in other states schools has it and I think that is so stupid to

have the rotating schedule because students may not like it. And when all students will

want the old schedule back I think that they mate have to vote to see how many students

like the rotating schedule. Then the principal will see with the vice-principal to get the

old schedule back.

The reason that I wrote this is because to tell principal how we wont the schedule

back and Hanover Park should keep the schedule as they have now. So if students really

want the old schedule back I would say “YES” because students are waiting for the old

schedule back, I would do that for them cause they would think that the principal or vice-

principal don’t really think about them. And at Hanover Park the High School should

keep it the right way as it is know cause it is so stupid to have the rotating schedule in

school cause other schools have it. But if they do that they don’t think that students will

have a lot of confusing, stresses, and they would have some problems with it. And if I

call for some sort of action I would keep the same but I will need people to work with me

on the schedule.

                                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                                VD

Dear Principal,

In the movie Transformers there’s a robot named Bumblebee.  He is mistreated when he is caught by sector 7 and they freeze him so they can experiment on him. Like the movie I feel we are be mistreated because the schedule is going to change and we want it to stay the same. In Hanover Park they are going to rotate the schedule, so that all of our classes will be different each marking period. My opinion is that for new students this will make it harder and more confusing to get around in a new school. Some people like that the schedule will change but I just find it will cause more stress.

For starters I feel that you will get use to having certain classes at certain times and that will be hard when it changes. For example I would like an easy class in the morning and a hard class like Social Studies in the afternoon. I want to do well in school and keep up my grades and that is easier for me when things stat the same. There should be a vote to see how many students want to rotate the schedule and how many want it to stay the same. I think I’ve listed some good reasons to keep the schedules the same.

Furthermore I feel that it will be really hard for new students if they start in the middle of the school year and find that their schedule is changed. I feel the classes will be harder in high school and learning how to get around and meeting all the teachers will be hard enough without changing our routine after a couple of months. When I came to Ridgedale Middle School it was hard to find my way around and to find all my teachers. As you can see I don’t want the rotating schedule because it will be to confusing.

In conclusion, the rotating schedule is a bad idea and as I said I would have classes at times that I will not be happy with. I hope that you will take everything that I had to say into consideration. I appreciated the chance to tell you how I feel about this matter and hope for the students that do not want rotating schedules you will consider changing this policy.

Sincerely,

 KP

Dear Principal,

Recently, last year a wrestler named the Undertaker won the world heavyweight champion chip. He made a new submission. He was unfairly striped of the world heavy weight champion chip. He was treated unfairly now I am being treated unfairly. At HP they want to rotate the schedule next year. They want to keep students engaged. This rotate schedule is confusing. I think this schedule is the most confusing thing the principal has ever done. I do not thick they should do this next year. This schedule is very confusing. If there are new students it adds more stress. As a eighth grader it is a slap in the face. Some people think that this should because they think that it will help them learn about different schedules. It is wrong because what if you are late your grade gets deducted. Why should you waste your time trying to get to class and the schedule is different

Generally, if the takes place it will add more stress to new students who come to HP. This year at Ridgedale Middle School we had rotating schedules for the past couple of mouths. This schedule made me feel very upset. For instance, the office said that one-day. I was late for homeroom. I had asked to go to the bathroom. They accidentally marked me absent. There were no consequences but if there was I would probably have a detention. Therefore, as you can see this schedule shouldn’t take place in HP.

In addition, as 8th graders it is a slap in the face. It is a slap in face because the rotating schedule is confusing. You have to try to remember the schedule. We were promised that he had at the beginning of the school year is what we would have through out the school year. For example my dad said he would pay for me but he didn’t. So I was treated unfairly to. This made me feel very unhappy. There was no consequences.

Basically, it is confusing. Why should students have to figure out which class to go to next? Like one time in gym I had to rush in order to get changed. I was late for class onetime because of this schedule. This schedule drives me crazy. If they change this schedule! If they change this schedule you would have a after school detention.

In conclusion, this schedule is crazy because it is confusing adds more stress and as eighth graders it is a slap in the face. This schedule is very unacceletable and should be banned in all school. I would hold a gauge against the school until they banned all rotating schedules forever. Should the students have to date with this schedule.

                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                    AD

Dear Principal,

There once was a Character named David Banner who played in a movie called “The Incredible Hulk” He was treated unfairly because of what he was and it wasn’t he fault. He was treated unfairly, and so am I. Recently there was an issue for the eight grade. On whether or not we should switch the schedule keeps students engaged. I do not think that this is a good idea because it can get people very confused on were they are suppose to go.

They get so used to the first schedule and then next semester its all messed up. Some who’d say its better because it changes up the schools experience over the course of the year. I think is wrong because we had the same experience from our middle school year. We already got used to it and we all hated it, we even signed petition to change our schedules back to the way they were. So there’s no point of making us like it again.

Basically, if you were to change Hanover Park schedule it would be very confusing. This reason is very strong because I had to change schools and I was very confused about two years and I just started to get down and now there going to change it. I don’t really agree with this confusion. People can get detention for the reason that they have their schedule all mixed up and when they come into a late class they get in trouble. Its not really their fault in my opinion.

Just in the same way, doing this is changing up the routine of our regular schedule, why change it? Some people can get so tired of the new schedule so they just eventually drop out. Then even more people will stop coming and it gets even worse. What if people start to go on strike and don’t come back to school until the schedule is back then what will happen.

Whack, This it the sound of a senior plunging my head into a locker.

Trust me I have way more things to worry about then the new rotating schedule. When I get into high school I have to worry about, new schedule, new teachers, new people etc. We need to stay focus now but how are we with this new rotating schedule on our mind. I don’t agree with this schedule at all.

In conclusion, I don’t think that we should I think that we should not change the schedule because it just to confusing and we have so many other things to worry about. I hope that I have convinced you that the new schedule is not the way to go. I hop that you have had a change happen in your mind for all of the people who do agree with the new rotating schedule

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                        KS

Dear Principal,

In the movie Twilight the Cullen family is treated unfairly. Everyone thinks they are different even though they are. The Cullen family are a family of vampires. They don’t know anyone accept their own family. When the Cullen’s go out in sunlight they glow. They can run very fast and some can read mines. The reason why I think they are treated unfairly is because when its sunny out they have to hide. Now I am being treated unfair now because now they want to do the rotating schedule. In H.P they are thinking about changing the schedules next year. I am agenst this because of the following: everything happens to our grade, as 8th graders we get a slap in the face, and finally for new students it adds more stress and confusion. In this situation I am telling you why I am agenst this.

Generally everything bad happens to our grade. In 5th grade one of our buses broke down. Also in 6th grade two people got lost in Dorney. We were the last grade to go. Our bus also broke down on the way back from HIC. When we were at HIC one of the groups saw a bear. Finally for the last two years at Ridgedale for the 8th grade dance it was a night at Paris. The year after that was a night on the red carpet. They are both nice, but of course for our 8th grade dance it’s a day at the beach. As you can see our grade is treated badly.

Smack! As 8th graders we get a slap in the face. For so many years the 8th grade had the encore or gym last. Its easier for the 8th grade students and its easier for the 8th grade teachers. Some students have been waiting since 6th grade and some have been waiting since 7th grade. When my neighbor went to Ridgedale he had his encore last and he is a freshmen in collage. It is also easier for the 8th grade teachers because even though they have classes all morning once lunch is done they don’t have any more classes. To some students if this continues they could get very depressed.

Finally, it give new students more stress and confusion. Everytime I pass HP I always think I’m going to get so lost. HP’s campus is very big. Its not only one building. It’s six different buildings. Its always hard for new students to find their classes but finally when they figure out where their going they change the schedule around.

There are many reasons why I don’t want to change the schedules around. Everything happens to our grade, as 8th graders we get a slap in the face, and finally it adds more stress and confusion to the new students and the upcoming freshmen.

                                                               Sincerely,

                                                               CL
